Who Are We
Brief History of FBC Palmer: First Baptist Church of Palmer was founded as a mission of FBC Anchorage in the early 1950’s. The congregation worshipped in the original building on Bailey Street until December 1996 when it moved into a new church facility on Cobb Street . Dr. Bruce Rowell became Pastor in July 1997. As numerical growth was occurring, God moved in a grand and miraculous way that led to the relocation to the current church campus on Helen Drive in a worship center with a capacity over 500. Plans are underway to continue development of church facilities with the addition of a multi-purpose facility that will include space for recreation ministries, a children’s ministry center, food services, and expanded church offices.
Kay Carter joined the staff in January 2004 as Ministry Development Coordinator, Sheryl Wagner in June 2004 as Office Manager and Bookkeeper, and Dr. Chuck Esary in October 2007 as Worship Pastor.
Today, First Baptist Church is at its strongest ever, and continues to grow. Every week brings new friends. New ministries are being birthed. Persons come to FBC and find vibrant, genuine worship experiences, small groups and class that build friendships, and ministries that touch real-life needs. God has a place of service and blessing for everyone who joins FBC. We’re doing our best to help persons become “fully functioning followers of Jesus.”
First Baptist participates with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Alaska Baptist Convention, and the Hatcher Pass Baptist Association to support over 10,000 full-time career missionaries around the world.
